We just finished an asphalt project in which were removed and replaced the drainage piping , extended the slab & resurface the existing “alligatored” asphalt.
The issue was the “alligatoring” that occurred at the through drain, at the entrance, and along the driveway itself, that was originally installed.
Our solution was to remove the shallow, flimsy drain lines, address & restabilize the compacted bedding for the new piping. We used (2) 6” Schedule 80 PVC pipes, with a compacted cover and asphalt to eliminate the “flexing” of the driveway when vehicles cross. We stoned the inlet and stoned, placed fabric, and seeded the outlet end. We then prepped and overlaid the existing asphalt with new. Now they have a new functioning driveway.
