New habitat for red pandas being constructed at Lehigh Valley ZooN. WHITEHALL TWP., PA – Lehigh Valley Zoo, in conjunction with project manager D&S Elite Construction, Inc., announced Wednesday that construction of the zoo’s new habitat for red pandas is underway.
The exhibit is expected to be completed for a grand opening later this spring, according to a news release from the zoo. The location, which previously housed the North American prairie dogs, has been reimagined for a habitat designed to meet the standards of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the zoo’s accrediting body, as well as to maximize the welfare of red pandas, according to the news release. “D&S Elite Construction, Inc. is excited for the opportunity to collaborate with the Lehigh Valley Zoo and a talented team of tradespeople to create this remarkable habitat for the Red Panda,” said Allen Butler, D&S Elite Construction’s Vice President of Construction, Inc. “We are eager to develop and construct an exhibit that not only provides visitors with a personal and up-close experience, but also contributes to educating the community about the plight of this endangered species for generations to come.” READ FULL ARTICLE > |

Christ Episcopal Church Historical Renovation ProjectPROJECT – Welcome Upgrade for a Community Cornerstone
The parish hall of this Reading, Pennsylvania landmark underwent a historic transformation. With a congregation that began in 1763 and an original building completed in 1826, to say Christ Episcopal Church has been a cornerstone in the city of Reading, PA would be an understatement. But to truly be part of a community, you need to serve the community, and the church’s parish hall (built in 1952) does much of that heavy lifting. LEGO ‘Liana’ to make debut at Elmwood Park ZooElmwood Park Zoo announced Thursday the debut of a new life-sized sloth sculpture, made entirely of LEGO® bricks. This one-of-a-kind piece was created by Master Model Builder Mike Nieves at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Philadelphia in Plymouth Meeting. LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia donated the sculpture to the zoo in honor of the zoo’s new “Harmony Hideaway” exhibit, which features a two-toed Linnaeus sloth named Liana.

The original 60” h. x 38” w. windows featured a single pane, stained glass and metal frames design that was visually interesting. However, over time, they had lost their functionality, becoming drafty and costly to repair and maintain.
