D&S Elite Construction, Inc. completed building a brand new Habitat for the Red Pandas at the Lehigh Valley Zoo, The Rothrock Red Panda Peak.
The space that once housed the North American prairie dogs at the Zoo has been redesigned into an exhibit for the pandas to not only stand the test of time but also meet the high standards set by the Lehigh Valley Zoo’s accrediting body the The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
Red pandas are an endangered species, with a population reported to be less than 10,000 in the wild, as a result of deforestation, poaching, accidental trapping, and illegal pet trade. The zoo's vision for the conservation of the species and educating their guests on the importance of wildlife conservation is the focus of the red panda's new home, where they arrived in June 2024.
