D&S Elite Construction, Inc. built a new custom exhibit for the gila monsters. This new exhibit incorporates features like 6" of substrate, allowing the gila monsters to engage in natural burrowing behaviors. This bioactive exhibit is also home to a variety of invertebrates and plants that work together to mimic the natural cleaning processes observed in the wild. Several specialty lights were used to create a natural ambiance and provide ultraviolet and infrared light, just like our other exhibits at the zoo.
